On page 44 of the typescript from the 1851 census, Kingsclear
parish, the family name is spelled SHASSA?, and Fabien is called Duel,
son age 21. There is a handwritten note that says 'at Yoho Dule'. This
may refer to the family's living at Yoho Lake and that Fabien was then
known as Duel. Yoho Lake is on the same secondary road as Mazerall
Settlement, about 10 miles south-southwest of it.

- "Before going to establish Mazerolle Settlement, however, Pierre possessed land on the north coast of the Saint John River, at the place which is today called McNally Ferry. In 1841, some months before receiving his concession for Mazeroll Settlement, he sold his property to Fiermean Chassey (Firmin Shassy?) for the sum of 50 livres. At the precise entrance of the Acadian Village is the Mazerolle house, that is to say originally on lot G, consisting of 100 acres, Pierre Mazerolle
had probably erected his house in 1841-1842, as he obtained this land. (Footnote 25 attests to the fact that Pierre's great-grandson, Bernard, had the original deed at the time the author interviewed him in 1975.)
