In the course of a few months several other families moved from New Meadows and joined their old neighbors. They were those of James Weeks, Nathan Stanley, Zadoc Bishop, Christopher Steven, Samuel Simmons, William Welch, Samuel Welch, Edward Welch, Oliver Hall, Timothy Wight and John Fish.

Not far from 1782...Simon Dearborn found John Fish, the tavern keeper, on his land. Fish refused to accept a reasonable compensation for his improvements, and defied Dearborn's claim. After considerable contest, in which Fish endeavored to gain by fraud what he could not be right, he was forcibly expelled.

John Fish of Lewiston Gore sold to Benjamin Glidden of Newcastle 2000 acres in Ballstown (Jefferson or Whitefield) 1795.
John Fish of Lewiston Gore sold land to Benjamin Glidden 350 acres in 1775 {see Glidden Genealogy} The history of Monmouth/Wales ME by Cochrane stated that there was a John Fish who ran a tavern in Wales Plt. He was squatting on some of the land of Gen Henry Dearborn. See page 95 of the Monmouth History.
