To the Honorable, the Justice of the Court of Common Pleas, to be holden at Exeter, in and for the County of Rockingham, in the State of New Hampshire, on the second Tuesday of August 1809.
The subscribers, in said County, humbly shew, That a Committee appointed by said Honorable Court, at January Term, 1803, laid out a road in said Allenstown, beginning at Deerfield line near Simeon Johnson's dwelling house, thence running south eighty one degrees and a half eighteen rods, thence north fifty eight degrees west sixty four rods, thence north seventy seven degrees and a half west fifty two rods, thence north eighty degrees west seventy eight rods crossing Mount Delight road to the highway now used from said Deerfield to Pembroke; that the land over which said road runs in extremely rough, uneven and very rocky; that the making said road would subject the inhabitants of said Allenstown to an expense they are totally unable to bear--that the taxes for maintaining the roads already made in said town are very burdensome, as there are but ten rateable polls living on the main road from Pembroke to Deerfield through said Allenstown, comprising a distance of nearly five miles. Your petitioners therefor humbly pray that the aforesaid road through said Allenstown, laid out as before mentioned, may be discontinued, and as in duty bound will ever pray
