While the Steam Tug Boat "Magnet" lying at Small & Hatheway's Wharf, Indian Town (St. John) was getting underway Monday 4 o'clock to cast off, her boiler exploded, causing a report like that of a cannon. Capt. John STEVENS had his left arm broken and backed scalded; the mate, William DENTON had his head cut and body much bruised; F. RIGBY, Fireman, was so much injured that he died in the course of the night. (see original)
