      (Halifax, Oct. 3) Effects of Gale 19th Sept.: The brig "Dulmarnock", John BURNS, master of Allen, from Shediac (West. Co.) N.B. bound to Cork for orders, 19th Sept., wasovertaken by a heavy gale which increased to a hurricane. At8 p.m. hove the ship to under close reefed main topsail. At9 p.m. found that something had given way and in less than 5minutes the ship was nearly full of water, after which shewent over on her beam ends, and at the same time, Humphrey ROBERTSON, mate belonging to Glasgow and Jacob WILLIAMS, St.Andrews (Charlotte Co.) N.B. were both drowned. As soon asthe masts were cut away she righted and on Sunday 20th, James HARSON, Carpenter and Wm. NICKLE, sailmaker belongingto Londonderry, Colin JOHNSTON of Falkirk and Alexander SHARPE of Fifeshire died of cold and hunger. On 21st 1 p.m.ship "Clydesdale" of Glasgow, came into sight and at 4 p.m.sent her boat and took off W. CORRICK, Robert POLMON, Alfred BALMAN and John BURNS, Master only surviving crew. By thistime the topsides of the brig were all gone and nothing standing but the foremast.
