At a Court of General Sessions of the Peace held at Pownalboro within and for the County of Lincoln, on the first Tuesday of June, being the fifth day of said Month, Anno Domini 1781

Meribah Cressey of a place called the head of the Tide in said County singlewoan, voluntarily comes into Court and acknowledges herself Guilty of the Crime of Fornication and Sentence to pay a fine of four shillings and Costs, standing committed till Sentence be performed.

Meribah Cressey of Pownalborough in the County of Lincoln Widow v Oliver Peasley of a place called Ball Town in said County Yeoman not of any Town upon a presentation of her Body The Court after a full hearing of both Parties acknowledge the said Oliver the reputed Father of said Child. It is therefore Ordered by the Court that the said Oliver pay to the said Meribah, the Sum of Eighteen Shillings for maintaining the Chid to this day, and fufther give Bond to the said Meribah in the Sum of one hundred Pounds lawful Silver money, with two Sureties for the Payment of the Sum of two shillings pr Week in lawful silver Money or in Bills of Credit at the current Exchange to the said meribah for and towards the Support and Maintenance of said Chilr till further Order of this Court. And further that he the said Oliver give Bond to the Treasurer of the Town of Pownalborough in the Sum of two hundred pounds like Money with two Sureties to indemnify and Save harmless the said Town of Pownalborough from all Costs & Charges which may arise or accrue for the Support and Maintenance of said Child, & that he pay Costs, stading committed till Sentence be performed.
