      Rev John Buzzell
      Birth: Sep. 16, 1767
      Barrington
      Strafford County
      New Hampshire, USA
      Death: Mar. 29, 1863
      Parsonsfield
      York County
      Maine, USA
      95 years, 6 months.
{Parents: William Buzzell and Eunice Drew Buzzell, contributed by #46831283).
Rev. John Buzzell, a Free Will Baptist clergyman, married Anna Buzzell, b. 1770, d. 1839. They had 11 children. "His attainments were above average, early becoming a teacher of common schools. He along with Dr. Moses Sweat, and Rev. Rufus McIntire, founded the Old Parsonsfield Seminary, the first school of his denomination." He, with Elder Benjamin Randall, founder of FWB, in NH, came to Maine before 1800, and he is known to have pastored churches in Maine for more than 50 years. He was a noted and powerful preacher, dignified in his demeanor, yet in spirit humble. He did as much as any in extending the work and influence of the FWB church.
It was said that he also had a talent for painting, 'as good as the old masters' and even painted a portrait of a young couple a week after their marriage as a gift to them...
He had a far-reaching view of education, and had a "commanding influence in exerting and molding political and religious opinions of the people." He was first editor of his denomination's "Morning Star" paper, which position he held seven years; He was instrumental in establishing the Orissa Mission (India.) He wrote a biography of his mentor, "Life of Rev. Benjamin Randall."
He died at his home in North Parsonsfield at the advanced age of ninety-five years, and 6 months.
(Quotes taken from "History of North Parsonsfield Centennial, 1885...)
