      To His Excellency Major General Sir Howard Douglas Baronet Lieutenant Governor and Commander in Chief of the Province of New Brunswick etc etc etc
      The Memorial of Neil McCurdy Shipwright, George McCurdy Yeoman and William McCurdy yeoman all of the Parish of Saint Andrews in the County of Charlotte
      Most Humbly Sheweth
      That Your Memorialist Neil McCurdy is eighty one years of age [1746] was born in the County of Antrim in Ireland and left Ireland when he was about nineteen years [1765] of age and came to Halifax in the Province of Nova Scotia and entered in the Dock Yard in the year one thousand seven hundred and seventy six as Foreman of Artificers and continued in that situation seven years, came to the County of Charlotte, in the year one thousand seven hundred and eighty three, is married and has seven children and has never received any grant of land. And begs leave to refer your Excellency to the annexed certificate of the Surveyor General of Nova Scotia for Your Excellency's consideration.
      That Your Memorialist George H McCurdy is a Son of the said Neil McCurdy, was born on Campo Bello in the County of Charlotte aforesaid, is thirty five years old [1792], not married and never had any land from the government.
      That Your Memorialist William McCurdy was born in the Parish of Saint Andrews aforesaid and is also a Son of the said Neil McCurdy is thirty ? years of age mrried and has three chilcren and in the year one thousand eight hundred and twenty Your Memorialist together with Alexander McCurdy and James McCurdy who are now absent at sea made application for a portion of unused land situate on Oak Hill now in the parish of Saint James and were assured of receiving the land when the reserves were taken off and have paid the fees of office on the said Memorials to the amount of fifteen dollars; That Your Memorialists wish a grant agreeable to the former memorial now on file; That Your Memorialists understand there are other applications for the same land but conceive they should have a preference on account of their being former applicants.
      Therefore, Your Memorialists pray that Your Excellency would be pleased to grant them the land as applied for in the former Memorials.
      And in duty bound will ever pray etc

      I do Certify to whom it may concern that I have known Mr Niel McCurdy now Residing at or near St Andrews in the Province of New Brunswick upwards of Forty Years that during the whole time of his Residence in this Province he sustained the Character of an honest worthy member of the Community and from the very favorable accounts I have received of his upright Character I would respectfully beg leave to recommen him to the favorable considerations of His Excellency Lieut General Sir Howard Douglas Lieut Governor and Commander in Chief of the Province of New Brunswick for a Portion of the Crown Lands in that Province
