Who was Jeremiah Sullivan? 32520
Jerry Sullivan Cousin Ballynakilly 1918: Mary Griffin 10409 m Patrick Griffin s John Griffin m Bridget Shea
Jerry Sullivan Cousin Ballynakilly 1918: James Griffin 19101 s Daniel Griffin m Johanna Doherty s John Griffin m Bridget Shea
Jerry Sullivan Son Canearagh 1908: s Michael Sullivan 32509 m Julia Shea [The family seems to have lived at Ballynakilly at the time.]
Jeremiah Sullivan 32520 s John Sullivan m Bridget Griffin is the Grandson of Mary Griffin 10409 but is a cousin of James Griffin 19101. Clearly the same Jeremiah Sullivan registered both these deaths in 1918, so my must not be this Jeremiah.
Jeremiah Sullivan s Jeremiah Sullivan m Catherine Shea seems to have lived at Keelnabrack.
The informant must be Jeremiah Sullivan 32520 s Michael Sullivan m Julia Shea. It has been postulated that Timothy Shea m Margaret Connor are the parents of Julia Shea. Supposing that the cousin link comes through the Sheas, these Sheas could be more closely related to Bridget Shea m John Griffin. However, there is much unknown about Jeremiah's Sullivan line.
The Shea connection can explain the cousin moniker when Jeremiah registered the death of James Griffin. How was he the cousin of Mary Griffin 10409? Was it simply through marriage? Through her husband's mother?
It can be assumed that since Mary Griffin was born some time in the 1840s or 1850s, probably before 1846, she ought to have been baptized at Glenbeigh.
Mary Griffin d John Griffin m Catherine Roche r Clahane, Gowlane 1844
Mary Griffin d James Griffin m Mary Taylor r Clahane, Gowlane, 1848
Mary Griffin d Michael Griffin m Julia Harris r Kilnabrack 1843
Mary Griffin d Timothy Griffin m Elizabeth Buckley r Kilnabrack 1845
Mary Griffin d John Griffin m Johanna Coffey r Droum 1846
Mary Griffin d Timothy Griffin m Ann Saunders r Letter 1847
Mary Griffin d Maurice Griffin m Honora Shea r Curraheen 1847
Mary Griffin d James Griffin m Margaret Riordan r Coolnaharrigal 1847
Mary Griffin d James Griffin m Bridget Griffin r Letter 1847 [m Michael Sullivan r Letter]
Mary Griffin d Maurice Griffin m Ellen Coffey r Ballynakilly 1848 [m Bartholomew Foley r Curraheen]
Mary Griffin d James Griffin m Mary Riordan r Kilkeehagh 1843 [probably m Michael Sheahan r Ballynakilly]
Mary Griffin d Denis Griffin m Mary Taylor r Gortmaloon 1843 [probably m John Taylor r Lyranes]
None of the 9 Mary Griffins who I can't trace are clearly our Mary Griffin. Patrick's brothers James, Joseph and Daniel married women from Killorglin. John's wife was from Dromod. Perhaps Mary Griffin came from these places.
The first son of Patrick Griffin m Mary Griffin was Thomas Patrick Griffin. Thomas is an unsual name in these lines of Griffins, suggesting that Mary came from a Griffin line where the given name Thomas is more common. Perhaps she is a daughter of Thomas Griffin 11569 m Ellen Murphy r Ballynakilly Upper whose baptism was not recorded. Still this gives no insight into the relationshop between Jeremiah Sullivan and Mary Griffin.
