      In the Name of God Amen
      I Joseph Seelye of Stratford now in perfect reason and soundness of mind being apprehensive of my approaching death knowing that God has appointed for all men to die now think my Duty to dispose of all those worldly goods which God in his goodness has given me. My precious and immortal soul I commend to God who gave it thro Jesus Christ my body to the dust in hopes of a resurrection with the just. What of those worldly goods to be disposed of is now my last Will and testament after all my just debts and funeral Charges are paid the rest I dispose of follows.

      Imprimis- I give to my beloved wife Jerush Seelye the use of my house and the use of half my lands adjoining to said house during her natural life and after her death to be equally divided among my five sons Michael, Ephraim, Gideon, Ezra, Agur, Liman & John.

      In the next place I give my beloved sons Michael, Ephraim, Gideon, Ezra, Agur, Liman & John all the rest of my lands to be equally divided amongst them enjoining all of my aforementioned sons to pay a dowry to my five daughters Sarah, Jerush, Hannah, Neaomia & Bulah all my well beloved daughters they are to be pd the sum of Forty Shillings lawful money at the time of age or marriage

      Lastly my beloved wife Jerush Seelye and my beloved son Michael Seelye I make my Executors of this my last Will and testament. In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this 6th day of October AD 1777

      Stratford Feby 24th 1778 personally appeared Messrs Noadiah Warner and David Booth witness to the within and made solemn oath that they saw the within names testator sign the within will in each of their presents and that the witness signed as such in this and each their presents and they say they understood it to be his last Willand testament and that they judges him to be of a sound disposing mind and memory at the time.

      Sworn before me Daniel Fairchild Jus of Peace Str Court of probate held at Fairfield April the 6 1778. Then the above and foregoing Will was exhibited to this Court for probate and being proved was by said Court approved and ordered to be recorded. Just Hezekiah Stillman Clerk

      In the name of God amen. I Jerusha Tongue of Trumball in the County of Fairfield & state of Connecticut although labouring under some indisposition of body at the present yet being of sound disposing mind memory & understanding through the mercy of God do make and ordain this my last will & testament in manner and from following.

      First & principally I resign my soul whenever it shall please God who gave it to require it from me with the utmose humility into his almighty hands who is my Creator humbly hoping for a blessed immortality through the merits & remediation of my blessed Saviour & redeemer Jesus Christ & my body I dispose may be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor herein after named and as for my temporal estate & concerns with which it has pleased God in his great goodness & mercy to intrust me with I give devise & dispose thereof as follows.

      In the first place I give & devise unto my dear & affectionate husband Jonathan Tongue of sd Trumball the full use improvements & occupation of one piece or parcel of land to me belonging containing about 4 acres & situated in sd Trumball & lies adjoining the dwelling house of the sd Jonathan Tongue to have & to hold the use & occupation thereof during his natural life to be improved as he may think proper with a remainder over in ? as follows

      to wit

      1 acres of sd land I give & devise unto Buler Hart my granddaughter & daughter of my daughter Sarah Hauley wife of Andrew Hawley of sd Trumball to her heirs forever. The remained and residue of st land I give and devise unto my natural sons & daughter and their heirs forever in equal portions (viz) Michael Seeley, Ezra Seeley, Agur Seeley, John Seeley, Lyman Seeley, Sarah Hawly, Jerusha Sherman, Hannah Bull & Naoma Fitch

      Item. I will that during my husband's occupation of sd land that he pay all necessary & ? taxes that may acrue on sd land.

      Item. I give and bequeath all the presonal property with which I am possessed to my beloved husband Jonathan Tongue. And lastly I do make institute my sd husband Jonathan Tongue executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal.

      This 5th of Augt AD 1809

      Signed sealed published & pronounces by the sd Jerusha Tongue as her last will and testament in the presence of each of us who in her presence & in the presence of each other we hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses
