I enjoyed your piece in this morning?s Loyalist newsletter. Here?s a tidbit from the journal of Ziba Pope, as Freewill Baptist preacher.
[2 September 1826] left here/ crossed the Eastern line of the United States and then crossed St Andrews bay to St George a place where I used to live/ they appeared to be very glad to see me/ Staid over night with Widow [Eunice] Linton her husband [Aaron] having lately died a man I was quite intimate with/ a sollomn house to see the dear mourning fatherless Children/

I encountered the name Eunice Linton in records for what is now Leeds County, Ontario. She is mentioned in a Leeds & Grenville Genealogical Society publication called "Births, Marriages, Deaths Notices from the Brockville Papers 1850-1869". According to this publication, the following appeared in the September 24, 1863 issue of the Brockville Recorder:
Died at Brockville, on the 16th inst., in the 83rd year of her age, Mrs. Eunice Linton, widow of Aaron Linton and mother of Mr. Aaron Linton, Schofield's Mill, Brockville. (Buried Sept. 18, 1863, Brockville Cemetery, born State of Maine, widow, aged 82 years, 8 months and 2 days.)

I have the Brockville Cemetery records, published by the Leeds and Grenville Branch Ontario Genealogical Society. Here are the records for Lintons in that cemetery, including the following three stones which are side by side:
Aaron Linton 1822-1902
Helen P. Linton wife of Aaron Linton Born Jan. 13, 1834 Died Jan. 23, 1873
Eunice Linton Born Jan. 14, 1781 Died Sept. 16, 1863
