  • Notes
    • Remick genealogy / compiled from the manuscript of Lieutenant Oliver Philbrick Remick for the Maine Historical Society by Winifred Lovering Holman.
Main Author: Remick, Oliver P. 1853-1913.
Other Authors: Holman, Winifred Lovering, 1899-
      Language(s): English
      Published: Concord, N.H. : Rumford Press, 1933.

p 65 John Remick m Margaret Hamilton living 1769 on Church committee died before 1790 census

The children of this John Remick are uncertain. Lieut. Remick thought that it was possible that a William Remick of Greene, Topsham, Leeds, and Brunswick, was his son, but this seems so unlikely that the compiler has placed this particular William in the Addenda. It does appear that John4 Remick had at least three children who are listed below.

      Children born in Kittery:
      By Margaret,
      i. John, b. about 1749, bapt. 27 May 1750, 2d Parish (son of John Remick, Jr.); m. Susanna Perkins.

      ii. Betty (or Elizabeth), bapt. 23 Nov. 1752; m. 4 May 1775, So. Par. Portsmouth, Jedediah Lord, bapt. 17 Nov. 1751, Kittery, d. 1827, son of John and Mercy (Frost) Lord; he m. (2), by 1810, Esther Grant, who d. 1856, dau. of Peter Grant. Children (Lord), b. Kittery, by Betty Remick, (1) Abigail; m. Solomon Neal; (2) Daughter; m. Shorey; (3) Daughter; m. Littlefield; (4) Simeon, b. 1797, d. 8 Nov. 1827, ae 47; by Esther, (5) John, b. 11 Apr. 1811; (6) Jedediah, b. 22 Sept. 1813; (7) Obadiah, b. 21 Mar. 1817; (8) Sarah-Frances, b. 2 June 1822.

iii. Josiah, born about 1755, bapt. 13 Nov. 1763, 2d Parish (son of John Remick), said to have been a soldier in Capt. Fernald's Co., and to have died in service, 1776.

Probably other children that died young.
