HUDSON, NH - Mary E. (Burke) Sears, 86, died unexpectedly at St. Joseph's Hospital in Nashua, NH on Saturday, February 23, 2002. Born in Springfield on October 9, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. Sr. and Mary E. Burke. Mrs. Sears had lived in Hudson, NH for the past 25 years, was a communicant of St. Louis De Gonzague Church in Nashua, and was an avid Bingo player with many friends. She was predeceased by her husband, John J. Sears Sr., in 1975; 3 brothers, James, Lawrence, & Edward Burke Jr.; and 3 sisters, Cecilia Lynch, Edwina Burke, & Alice Compton. She is survived by a son, John J. "Jack" Sears Jr. with his wife Sue; and 2 granddaughters, Lisa & Kimmy, all of Hudson, NH, with whom she lived. She also leaves a daughter, Rita "Bunny" Lynch with her husband Kevin; and 2 grandsons, Tommy & John, all of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, 8 a.m., from Sampson's Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Rd., with a 9:30 a.m. Liturgy of Christian Burial at Holy Name of Jesus Church, Dickinson St., all in Springfield, MA. Rites of Committal will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 &7-9 p.m.

Mary Esther Burke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Burke of Main Street and John Joseph Sears, son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Sears of Colton Street were married Memorial Day in Sacred Heart Church. The couple were attended by Miss Cecilia Burke, a sister of the bride and Francis W. Sears, brother of the bridegroom with Edward J. Burke and Robert E. Sears as ushers.
The bride wore white mouseline de soie with sweetheart neckline and veil fastened with orange blossoms and pearl pins, the pins being her baby pins. She carried white roses, lilies of the valley and an orchid. The bridesmaid wore pink mouseline de soie with pink net headdress fastened to a wreath of pink silk daises. Her accessories were blue and her flowers were red roses and blue iris. Mrs. Burke wore a navy blue print with corsage of crimson roses and the mother of the bridegroom wore powder blue with white accessories and a corsage of pink roses.
A wedding breakfast and reception was held in the home of the bride, attended by 95 relatives and friends, after which the couple left for New York. The bride traveled in a blue tailored suit with white accessories and an orchid corsage. They will make their home at 11 Noble Street on their return.
The bride was born here and was employed at the Isolation Hospital. The bridegroom who was also born here, is a printer.

Sullivan, from Hartford, CT, born on October 9, 1915 and baptized on October 31, 1915 by Rev. Father J.E. Doherty, in All Souls Church, Springfield, Mass. Godparents were: Joseph Lawrence and Alice M. Kennedy. I trust this can be of help to you. Also, in the book of marriages in All Souls Church, there is an entry of a wedding between Edward Burke, baptized in St. Rose, Meriden, in 1888, child of John Burke and Ann Phillips, and Catherine Hall.
