Two years of living in St. Andrews, a fire destroyed their home
Annapolis Royal (Nova Scotia). Eventually, Halifax in 1796.
Oliver went to the Halifax Grammar School (did not enjoy it)
Tried a lot of professions: - Halifax Naval Hospital (but was disgusted); - apprentice to an ironmonger (but was discharged for idleness); - work for a bookseller, - work in a lawyer?s office.
Finally, through his father (1st assistant commissary general in Halifax) Oliver began working as a civilian volunteer in the British army?s Commissariat at Halifax in 1810 (16 years old)
Oliver went to the Halifax Grammar School (did not enjoy it)

March 29 1779 Henry Goldsmith was married to Mary Mason
This was the last marriage ceremony performed by the Rev Mr Bisset before he took his hurried departure with the British troop.
Henry Goldsmith was born in the County of Westmeath, Ireland 4 July 1755. His wife Mary Mason daughter Benj mason and granddaughter of Daniel Ayrault, was born November 9 1759. Mr Goldsmith adhered to the Crown. After the birth of his first childn her removed to St Andrews, NS, from there to Annapolis Royal, them to Halifax, and, finally in 1800 to England, where he and his wife died. They had fourteen children born to them.
