To the Sheriff of our County of Lincoln or his Deputy
Greeting
Wherea David Crowell of a place called Ballstown in said County Esqr by the Justices of our Court of Common Please holden at Topsham in & for the County of Lincoln aforesaid on the fourth Monday of August Inst recoverd Judgment against Caleb Bartleett of said Ballstown yeoman for the sum of forty six Dollars & twelve cents damages & thirteen Dollars & eighteen Cents costs of suit as to us appears of Records whereof Execution remained to be done. We command you therefore that of the goods, chattles or lands of the said Caleb within your precinct you cause to be paid & satisfied unto the said David at the value thereof in Money the aforesaid Sums being fifty nine Dollars and thirty Cents, with twenty five Cents more for this writ, & thereof also to satisfy yourself for your own fees: And for want of goods, chattles, or lands of the said Caleb to be by him shewn unto you or found within your precint to the acceptance of the said David to satisfy the sums aforesaid. We command you to take the body of the said Caleb & him commit to our Gaol in Wiscasset in our County of Lincoln aforesaid and detain in your custody within our said Gaol until he pay the full sums above mentioned with your fees, of that he be discharged by the said David the Creditor or otherwise by order of land. Hereof fail not, & make return of this write with your doings therein into the Office of our said Court at Wiscasset within our County of Lincoln aforesaid in three months.

In witness whereof we hereto set our hands this twenty sixth day of September AD 1808

Lincoln September 26 1808 the within mentioned Judgment not being satisfied by money or other specie, & David Crowell the Creditor within named finding no personal estate to his acceptance wherewith to satisfy this Execution & thinking proper to levy the same on the within Caleb Bartlett the debtors real estate, I Josiah Norris the Officer to whom this Execution is directed & delivered have caused Jeremiah Pearson & John Dole Esquire & John How three disinterested and discreet men and free holders in the said County of Lincoln, the said Pearson being chosen by the said Debtor, the said Dole being chosen by the said Creditor & the said John Howe being chosen by myself to be sworn before Josiah Stebbins Esquire one of the Justices of the Peace for the said County of Lincoln, as is above by the said Justice certified; and the said Pearson, Dole & Jow being so sworn, I shewed to them the above described real estate for appraisement, and the same thei appraised & set out by meets & bounds as by the above report of their doings under their hards appears; whereupon I have delivered seizen & possession thereof to the said Crowell the Creditor, & return this Execution satisfies in part to wit, for twenty three Dollars & ninety two Cents; the sum of all fees hereon being seventeen Dollars & twenty Cents, as stated below, Josiah Norris, Depty Sheriff
