    • To Robert Matheson, Collector of Rates in the Parish of St Stephen
      You are hereby required forthwith to collect from the several persons named in the annexed assessment the sum set against their names respectively under the last Column thereof in the Assessment for the Poor Entitled Total amounting in the whole to the Sum of one hundred sixty five pounds fifteen shillings and pay the same when collected into the hands of the Overseers of the Poor.

      And you are likewise required to collect the Sum set against their Names respectively under the last Column Entitled Total assessment for the County amounting to the further sum of Ninety nine pound nine Shillings and pay the same when Collected into the Hands of the County Treasurer.

      Given under our hands this Sixth day of November in the year of our Lord 1822.

      DODD, . Was in the military service of the Crown, and engaged in the battles of White Plains and Monmouth, and in the siege of Yorktown. At the peace, he went to New Brunswick, and died there. His widow, Elizabeth, died at St. Stephen in that Province, in 1849, aged one hundred and eleven years. She was born on board of a British ship-of-the-line, in the Bay of Biscay. She accompanied her husband in the Revolution, and endured all the deprivations and hardships of life in the camp.
