- Dromod/Prior: Nothing further
Dear William,
This mail comes from Dublin, Ireland. My relations came from Maulnahone,Waterville,Co.Kerry.It is a townland in the Parish of Dromod-next to Prior. In the 1800's the houses were together in a "Baile" or small village and there Jeremiah Sullivan's children were brought up.
John b1856
Bridget 1858
Patrick 1862
Michael 1866
Joanna 1869.
Do you know if a Timothy Sullivan there around circa 1852 was a relation of Jeremiah.Mygggrandfather John Sugrue 1796-1873 inherited that Tim's Tenency. I have been trying to find where John came from for ages. There were only 8 houses together and the ruins remain to-day. My Dad was born there in 1893-a family of 15 children who all survived into maturity. About 4 remained in Ireland and the rest emigrated-mostly to NY.
I have traced the marriage cert. of the Lawlers. The new site, which you use,is A1 but those Sullivan children appeared under the name "Dillagh ",Other Sullivans in area "Direen" etc. Cliffords were Cluvane. This was an Irish speaking district and most had no English.
Hoping to hear from you at your convenience.
Kindest Regards,
Diarmuid Sugrue

- Dear William,
Sincere thanks for your response.
The following is just for your records:
Jeremiah Sullivan married Johanna Fogerty on 4th Nov. 1853.
(In the records he appears as Dermot/Diarmuid-the Irish for Jeremiah )
John Sullivan b. 14/5/1856
Bridget b 26/11/ 1858
Patrick b.22/2/1862
Michael b 3/1/1866
Joanna b. 28/6/1869
There was another daughter Mary who married a Thomas Carey ( one of the 8 houses in the little village ). They had 2 children: Nora b 1879
Thomas b 1886.
The husband died and Mary married again and lived in Moulnahone. She married a Patrick Sugrue from a townland close bye-called Brehig.
They also had 2 children:
Kate:b 1894
Margaret b 1897.
This Sugrue was not a relation of mine. All the children emigrated to CT.
Daniel Sullivan married Ellen Lawlor of Ballinskelligs-down the road from Moulnahone-on 3 Nov. 1855.
I feel that the Humphrey Sullivan mentioned was born not far from Moulnahone in the townland of BUNADREEN on 5th August 1865. His parents being Timothy Sullivan and Catherine Sullivan. Strange that come6th August 1878 another Humphrey was born there to a John Sullivan and Bridget Sullivan.
Bill- I thought that these were relations of yours.
All the children appear in the new web site "Irishgenealogy Limited " under the surname Dillagh.
My Clifford relations from Cahirdaniel ( Dromod Parish) are all recorded as Cluvane and that is how I found your excellent site. Good luck in all your research Bill and may the Lord Bles you and Yours.
Sincerely,
Diarmuid ( Years ago when I studied in UCLA I had to adopt the Christian name of "DERRY" )
