- George A. "Sully" Sullivan, 74, of Newington, died on Friday, (March 26, 2004). He was a truly devoted family man and beloved husband and best friend of Mary (Balboni) Sullivan for the past 55 years. Born in Hartford the son of the late James and Bridget (Murphy) Sullivan, and had been a Newington resident for the past 44 years. He was retired from the Eastern Trucking Company after 47 years and presently employed by JV III Construction Company, Rocky Hill. Sully was a proud member of the Teamsters Local #671. George is also survived by his two devoted daughters, Nancy S. Tower and her husband Gregory of Newington and Sharon S. Yost and her husband Jerry of Glastonbury; he also leaves his loving grandchildren, Jamie Tower, Jennifer Figueroa and her husband Izzy, Allison Yost, Ryan Sullivan Yost; and three great grandchildren, Jessica Tower, Collin George Tower, and Jordyne Figueroa. He is predeceased by six brothers and sisters, and his best friends Carmen and Joyce DeRubbo. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mr. Sullivan's physician John W. Rogers MD. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Avenue in Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Church of the Holy Spirit in Newington. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Memorial Park in Rocky Hill. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home.
