      James: Roman Catholic records

Timothy: Mary Kelliher Sullivan called aunt of Bridget Kelliher d Timothy in Bridget's death notice

To the question of Mary Kelliher Sullivan's parents. Not so straight forward. She and her husband lived at Laharan, Killorglin, before coming to Hartford. No marriage records for them survives, but it wouldn't be much help considering parents' names don't appear until 1864, and even then only the father's. It's difficult to pinpoint her birth too. The records point to birthdates from about 1828 to as late as 1854. Since her first known child was born in 1864, and it was exceedingly rare for very young marriages in that period, she was probably born no later than 1844. Also considering that it was very unlikely that she was older that her husband, she was probably born after 1832. And she was likely from Killorglin too. So in the range 1832-1844, at Killorglin, close to Caragh Lake, there were two Mary Kellihers baptized: 1 the daughter of Thomas Kelliher, 2 the daughter of Timothy Kelliher. The name Thomas is not common in Mary Kelliher Sullivan's line of descent, but not unknown. Timothy does repeat.

Since Mary is said to be the aunt of Bridget Kelliher daughter of Timothy Kelliher and Mary Horgan, it is most likely Timothy is the brother of Mary. Now this can't be the Timothy Kelliher son of Thomas Doona, because that Timothy appears to have been married in 1879 to Ellen Murphy.

Adding all this together, it appears that Timothy Kelliher and Bridget Diggin were the parents of Mary Kelliher Sullivan and Timothy Kelliher. This approach won't get you into any lineage societies, but at least it will give you a framework within which to work.
