To His Excellency Major General George Stracy Smyth Lieutenant Governor abd Commander in Chief of the Province of New Brunswick Etc Etc Etc
The Memorial of John Morrison humbly sheweth
That your Memorialist was born in the parish of Saint Stephens, County of Charlotte, and Province of New Brunswick, & has constantly resided either in said province or Nova Scotia ever since- He is twenty two years of age and unmarried, and possesses the means of improving and it is his Intention to continue to do so, according to the royal Instructions-
Your Memorialist begs leave to state that He purchased two years ago for twelve pounds from Harris Hatch Esquire, his Title to a Lot of Land being the lower or South Easterly half of two Lots reserved by His Majesty's Surveyor of Woods for a Masting Pond in the front thereof, as He was informed, situated on the Schoodic River a short Distance below the Mouth of the Waweig River, adjoining and lying Northwesterly of Lot Number 64 [Lot 65 granted to George Simpson], granted to Matthew Lymburner in the Grant to the Penobscot Association, which Lot had been formerly improved by William Simpson, under a License from the Deputy Surveyor of Woods in Charlotte, by said Simpson conveyed to David Mulloy, and by Mulloy conveyed to Harris Hatch Esquire- Your Memorialist has cleared up four Acres since He occupied the Lot, and did not know that in so doing He was trespassing on reserved Land- He most humbly prays that your Excellency will be pleased to grant Him the above described Lot, when the present restrictions may be removed, and that in the mean time He may obtain a License to remain upon and sometime continue to improve the same, And as in Duty bound will ever pray
