Tuesday night, between Clarence Ridge and Magaguadavick River (Charlotte Co.) Merrill WHITTIER, St. Patrick, his son of Henry WHITTIER and James ROSS, a young man from St. David had been engaged lumbering there. Mr. WHITTIER left the two young men and proceeded home, a distance of about two miles. What was his horror, when next morning he returned to the scene of his previous labourers to find a mass of blackened ruins where the camp had stood and the lifeless remains of the two young men that he had left the previous eve. hale and hearty. - Charlotte Gazette
