      Mystic: Edward J. Romanski, 85, of 122 Lambtown Road, died Monday at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born on Aug. 10, 1914, in Norwich, the son of the late Frank C. and Dominica Romanski. Mr. Romanski was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served with the Seabees in the Pacific. He married Iris Johnson on Jan. 26, 1944. He had worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps at Camp Jenkins in Cobalt and the Babcock Printing Press Co. in New London. A resident of the area since 1945, he was employed as an inside machinist at Electric Boat for 26 years, prior to his retirement. He was a charter and life member of the Groton Sportsman?s Club, and a former member of the Norwich Lodge of Elks. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Edward Romanski of Hopkinton, R.I.; a daughter, Joanne Crook of Big Stone Gap, Va.; a brother, Joseph Romanski of Norwich; and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Rose Olbrys, and two brothers, Frank Romanski and Stanley Romanski. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at The Mystic Funeral Home, Route 1. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery. There are no calling hours.

      Obituary of Anthony Steve Fidrych
      Uncasville-Anthony S. Fidrych, age 74, of Uncasville, passed away on April 25, 2016 at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, with his family by his side. He was born in Norwich on January 23, 1942 to the late Anthony and Helen (Chojnacki) Fidrych. Anthony served in the U.S. Navy as a Third Class Gunners Mate aboard the USS Chilton and the USS Hammerberg. On June 15, 1962 he was united in marriage to Nancy J. Wall and together they raised a family. He worked as a construction superintendent any enjoyed fishing, and hunting in his free time. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by a son Peter Fidrych of Norwich, a daughter Cheryl Briggs and her husband Woody of Franklin, a daughter Karen Mylly and her husband Chris of Colchester, grandchildren Allyson, Tyler, Colby, Kaitlyn and Morgan and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his loving wife Nancy Fidrych and a sister Mary Ann Avery. The family would like to thank the staff at Orchard Grove in Uncasville for their many years of care and compassion.
