      It seems reasonably certain that it was this Rufus Handy whose name appears on the 1783 list of United Empire Loyalists who left the country to found the town of Port Roseway, NS (now Shelburne). He then had a family of 1 male, 1 female, and 7 children to a total of 9 persons, recommended by "Mr Pinchon." ...[see The Port Roseway Debacle: Some American Loyalists in Nova Scotia, The Register Volume 117 Page 15 January 1963]

      We do not find the Handy family in Shelburne after the first summer. It is likely that they went to New Brunswick with the transports in the autumn. ECW in Loyalists of New Brunswick shows one Molly Handy and one Priscilla Handy in Oromocto, Sunbury County, NB....ECW lists also a Samuel Handy in 1787 in Beaver Harbour...
