Margaret (Clifford) Fowler, 78, of Vero Beach, FL, formerly of Wethersfield, died on Saturday, (August 28, 2004). Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Timothy and Bridget Clifford. She is survived by her son, William Fowler, and his wife Suzanne, of Coventry, her daughter Ann Faust and her husband Carl of Haddam; six grandchildren, Brittany, Eric, and Megan Fowler, and Jeannette, Katherine, and Julie Faust; and a sister, Mary Lattanzio and her husband Val of Wethersfield, and their children and grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Timothy Clifford. She was a graduate of the Mount St. Joseph Academy. Prior to and after raising her children, she enjoyed a career in retail clothing. She was an avid golfer and a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vera Beach, FL. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 3, at 9:15 a.m. from the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in The Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St. Wethersfield. Burial will follow at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd. Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Catholic Family Services, 469 Bloomfield Ave., Bloomfield, CT 06002.

Born in Cromane, County Kerry, Ireland, she had lived in Newington for over 50 years. Mrs. Griffin was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Newington, and a member of the Ladies' Guild. She is survived by a son, John P. Griffin Jr. of Wethersfield; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Rich of Middletown, Mrs. Kathleen Krul of East Hartford, Mrs. Helen Johnson of Bristol, and Mrs. Ann Rourke of Farmington; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great- grandchildren. Funeral procession will be Monday, 9:15 a.m., from the Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Hone, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., in St. Mary's Church, Newington. Burial will be Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours will be today, 2-4 p.m., at the funeral home. 251 RICCIO. Helen Moriarty Riccio, wife of Leonard C. Riccio, the first fiscal vice president of the University of Connecticut, died Tuesday (Sept. 24) in Glastonbury, CT. Her husband, who died in 1960, was named Comptroller of the State University at Storrs, CT in 1939 and was appointed fiscal vice president under Albert N. Jorgensen in the 1950s. Len Riccio served alongside Albert Waugh, provost of the University, and the school's first academic vice president. Helen, daughter of Timothy and Julia (Teahan) Moriarty, was born Aug. 22, 1906 in Hartford. She graduated in 1923 from Mount Saint Joseph Academy, West Hartford, and lived in the area until her husband was named to his post at UCONN. Subsequent to his death, she lived for many years in Newington with her daughter, Joan Cowles, and moved to Glastonbury in 1985. She spent a great part of her life involved in charity work, including extensive time at Newington's Cedarcrest Hospital. While in Storrs, she registered students for classes in fall and winter terms; and, for many years in Newington, worked with the Democratic Party during local, state and national elections. While in Newington, she was a Board Member of the Committee on Aging and an active member of the Newington Senior Citizens Club. Her early career was with Southern New England Electric Company in Hartford, where she met her husband. Helen was also predeceased by her younger sister, Katherine Weiss, and younger brother, Thomas Moriarty, her grandson, Anthony Riccio, and great-grandchild, Ashley Cowles. She leaves her daughter, Joan, and her daughter-in-law and son, Lenore and John Riccio, all of Glastonbury. She is survived by eight grandchildren, Robert and Anna Cowles of Vernon, Deborah and Carmen Impelluso of Hebron; Timothy and Joyce Cowles of Newington; Christopher and Shirley Cowles of Hebron; Pamela and Mark Occhialini of Newington; Anthony Cowles and his fiancee', Kathryn Hart of Boston; Leonard Riccio of Point Arena, CA and Julia Riccio of Medford, MA. There are nine great-grandchildren in the family: Sam and Margaret Cowles, children of Robert; Kaitlin, Carl and Julia Impelluso, children of Deborah; Justin and Wesley Cowles, sons of Christopher; and Antonio and Danielle Occhialini, children of Pamela. Funeral services will be Friday (Sept.27), 9:15 a.m., from the Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Turnpike, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Glastonbury. Burial will be at the Storrs Cemetery, North Eagleville Road, Storrs, following the church services. Calling hours are Thursday (Sept. 26), 7-9 p.m., at Glastonbury Funeral Home. Alexander Romanski, 93, a longtime resient of Meriden, died Wednesday, (January 19, 2000) in Palm Springs, CA. He was born April 22, 1906 to Alexander and Nellie Romanski of New Britain. He was predeceased by his wife, Julie Peczynski Romanski; and by his brothers, Lucien, Alphonse, Stanley and John Marsh. Mr. Romanski was employed by the Miller Company for 37 years. At the time of his retirement in 1971, he was a toolmaker in the Rolling Mill Division. Survivors include his daughters, Susan Green of Palm Springs, CA and Mary Davis of Lake Charles, LA. He also leaves six granddaughters, four grandsons, and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at St. Stanislaus Church in Meriden at a later date. Notice of the service will be published in the newspaper prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to St. Stanislaus Church, Akron Street, Meriden, CT 06450.

He was born in Hartford and was a lifelong resident of the area. Prior to his retirement, he was an inspector for the State of Conn. Motor Vehicle Dept. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a communicant of St. James Church, Rocky Hill. He leaves two sisters-in law, Mrs. William (Nellie) Angelo and Mrs. Bernyce Urbanik, both of Hartford; several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Wednesday (March 5) at 9:15 a.m. from the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. James Church, 767 Elm St., Rocky Hill. 260 SULLIVAN. Sister Mary Elizabeth Sullivan, (Sr. James Marie), of the Sisters of Mercy, West Hartford, died Thursday, (June 30, 1994) at Mercyknoll Infirmary. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Bridget (Murphy) Sullivan. She entered the community of sisters on June 19, 1936, and professed her final vows Jan. 3, 1944. Sister Mary Elizabeth taught in the following Connecticut schools; St. Mary, East Hartford, Derby and New Britain, St. Francis, New Haven, SS. Peter & Paul, and Sacred Heart, both in Waterbury, Assumption, Ansonia, St. Rose, Meriden, St. Patrick, Thompsonville, St. Francis, Naugatuck, St. James, Manchester, Immaculate Conception, St. Joseph, and St. Peter, all in Hartford. She retired to Mercyknoll in 1978. She is survived by two brothers; George Sullivan of Newington, James Sullivan in Florida; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday (July 5) 9:30 a.m., in Mercyknoll Chapel, 243 Steele Road, West Hartford. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, West Hartford.
